HOPKINSVILLE, KY (WSMV) -

Officials say lightning is responsible for an apartment complex fire in Hopkinsville.

Lightning struck the roof of the Ravenwood Apartments off Fort Campbell Boulevard overnight.

The fire burned the right side of the building, and the Hopkinsville Fire Department says five apartments were affected.

Firefighters have been working to put out hot spots.

It's unclear if the people whose homes were damaged will be able to continue to live in their apartments.
