A pedestrian remains in critical condition after he was struck by a vehicle Monday evening in Bellevue.
Police say 69-year-old Patrick Nelson Jr. was crossing Old Hickory Boulevard from the Iroquois Apartments to the Kroger shopping center on the other side of the road when he was hit by a minivan.
Investigators believe Nelson was not within a crosswalk at the time.
He was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with what police described as life-threatening injuries.
Police say there was no evidence of drugs or alcohol on the part of the driver, who was turning left from the grocery store parking lot onto Old Hickory Boulevard when Nelson was struck.
The collision remains under investigation, and no charges have been placed against the driver.
