International country artists start CMA week with free concert Monday

Posted: Updated:

Country music fans from all over the world are heading to Nashville this week for the CMA Music Festival, and several international country artists will kick things off Monday with a free concert on Lower Broadway.

Fans from Europe, Australia and Canada make up many of the biggest groups at CMA Fest, as country music is heard all around the world now more than ever.

Taylor Swift won't be at CMA Fest this year, because she's touring Asia, including a concert last week in Shanghai.

Country stars playing outside the borders of the United States is not something new. Canada has always been a huge market, and entertainers like Dolly Parton have played Europe for years.

Garth Brooks, Toby Keith, Lady Antebellum and Brad Paisley are among the many artists building a sizeable European following.
