1 person injured in Springfield shooting

Police are investigating a shooting in Springfield that sent one man to the hospital Sunday night.

According to the shooting victim, he and a friend were approached by a man at a stop sign and they made a deal with him for marijuana near the intersection of 21st Avenue and Blair Street.

The victim said he felt something was wrong and tried to drive away, which is when he was shot in his right side. His friend was not injured in the shooting.

The man drove himself to a local hospital and was later taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center by ambulance. Since then, he has been treated and released.
