NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A man was arrested overnight after police say he started a fire in East Nashville over the weekend.

Police say they believe 28-year-old Brandon Hulan set fire to an apartment on Kirkland Avenue on Saturday.

The flames spread to two other apartments, including one unit that had three children inside.

Firefighters put out the flames Saturday, but the blaze rekindled the next day.

Neighbors told police they saw Hulan going toward the back door just before the fire.

Police say Hulan returned to the apartment and had black marks and soot on his hands, which is when he was arrested.

Hulan is being held in the Metro jail on a $175,000 bond.
