Rollover crash in Maury County kills man, injures wife

HAMPSHIRE, TN (WSMV) -

A man was killed, and his was wife injured in a rollover crash in Maury County, Saturday night. 

Rescue crews were called to the scene on McClanahan Road in the Hampshire Community around 8 p.m.

Officials with the Tennessee Highway Patrol said Gray Sands Jr., 69, of Franklin, and his wife, Candace Sands, 67, were driving along McClanahan Road when he lost control going around a curve.

The preliminary report states that car left the road and rolled several times down a steep embankment, where it came to rest upside down against a tree.

Gray Sands was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Candace Sands was airlifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Her condition is not available.
