Metro police identify homicide victim

Metro police have identified the homicide victim who showed up at Tri-Star Skyline Medical Center Saturday, as Michael Weaver Jr., 36 of Nashville.

Around 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Weaver was driven to Tri-Star Skyline Medical Center with a gunshot wound. He later died at the hospital from his injuries.

Police said Weaver and a friend drove to thearea of 14th Avenue North and Cockrill Street to make a drug transaction. 

Officials were told the suspect got into the back seat of the vehicle, took out a handgun anddemanded cash from Weaver who was sitting in the front passenger seat. When Weaver refused, the gunman fired, striking Weaver.  The gunman got out and drove away,possibly in a red Dodge Neon.  

Police were given the description of the suspect as a black man with short hair.  He wore round glasses.  Police were also told the suspect is approximately 5'6" tall andweighs approximately 220 pounds.
