NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

There were plenty of big stars on stage Thursday at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center even though most of them aren't big people yet.

Metro elementary and middle school students showed off their singing and dance skills, all part of the Student Share Celebration for the Disney Musicals in School Program.

Channel 4 News reporter Terry Bulger hosted and was in awe as the kids beautifully performed music from the Aristocats and the Jungle Book.

The program has the goal of making sure music remains an integral part of public schools.

"I loved standing near the stage today and seeing the faces as they're having fun with their friends, saying, 'Hey, we get to do this. We get to go be an elephant on stage and get to do things that they may not have had exposure to before,'" said Sarah Trahern, with the Country Music Association Foundation.

The CMA Foundation and Disney made the event possible, and Harris Hillman, Lakeview and Warner Elementary were just a few of the schools that took to the stage.
