WAKE FOREST, N.C. -

A Franklinton woman faces charges of animal cruelty after police said two dogs died in her vehicle Wednesday morning.

A call was made to Wake Forest police around 11:30 a.m. reporting two dead dogs inside a vehicle in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart on S. Main Street.

Police said the dogs belonged to Jennifer King, 34. She left the dogs inside her car for three hours while she shopped, police said.

King was arrested and taken to the Wake County Detention Center where she was held under a $10,000 secured bond.

Wake Forest police said the temperature inside King’s vehicle reached 120 degrees.
