Man accused of running from police, leaving 4 children in car

A man is in jail after police say he got into trouble and then left four kids in his car.

Police stopped Michael Begley outside the Walmart on Nolensville Pike around 10 p.m. on Thursday to serve him with an arrest warrant for shoplifting.

When Begley saw the cops, he allegedly ran off, leaving behind four children in the car.

Police say Begley shoplifted from the Walmart back in April.

On Thursday night, police say Begley sent his girlfriend in the store with her 12-year-old daughter to go shoplift some more items. His girlfriend told police that Begley forced her to go in and steal and threatened her and her children if they refused.

Begley was arrested and booked into the Metro jail late Thursday night. He is facing eight charges, including shoplifting and child neglect.
