NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A 22-year-old man was killed in a shooting at an apartment complex in south Nashville late Tuesday night.

Police say a continuing dispute between the victim, Michael Pillow, and another man led up to the shooting.

Pillow was visiting family at the Summerwind Apartments on Bell Road when another resident in the same building allegedly called out and challenged him to a fight.

According to police, Pillow was ambushed by armed men and was shot multiple times when he came downstairs into the open around 11:45 p.m.

Police are working to track down 22-year-old Eric Carter for questioning.

Carter lives in the same apartment building and police say they found the door to his apartment open and that he had left the scene. Carter is believed to have knowledge of the dispute and the gunmen involved.

Pillow was on parole because of a conviction for attempted second-degree murder in 2012.

Anyone with information on Carter is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME or Hermitage Precinct Investigations at 862-6993.
