A teenager has died after swimming at Rutledge Falls near Tullahoma on Tuesday afternoon.

Officials say 16-year-old Jake Taylor was with a group of about 10 other students when something went wrong and he went below the surface.

A classmate pulled Jake out of the water and initiated CPR.

His death is believed to have been an accident, and the sheriff's office said the young man may have died of hypothermia.

Police say Cannon County Schools were closed on Tuesday due to elections and the students had planned on swimming at the Manchester Recreation Complex pool, but it was closed for maintenance, so they went to Rutledge Falls instead.
