Hendersonville music instructor charged with statutory rape

HENDERSONVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A music instructor in Hendersonville has been charged in connection to a sexual assault case involving a 15-year-old girl.

Police say 50-year-old Charles Cook is a music instructor at the Hendersonville Music Academy.

The Hendersonville Police Department says they received the report of the incident on Monday.

Cook is facing charges of aggravated statutory rape and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Management with Hendersonville Music Academy says Cook was a sub-contracted instructor that they no longer employ and issued this statement:

"We have always taken extra precautions to ensure the safety of our students and their families as they are our number one priority. We have served our community for many years and will continue to do our best in bringing professional music instruction in a safe, comfortable environment."

Bond for Cook was set at $50,000 and his court date was set for May 28.
