A pedestrian was critically injured after being hit by a car in south Nashville on Monday night.
A woman was driving her Kia Optima eastbound on Old Hickory Boulevard at Nolensville Pike around 11 p.m. when she says a man suddenly appeared in the road.
She said she didn't see him because a car was right next to her, and was not able to avoid hitting him.
The 40-year-old man was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
Police say the man was at least 200 yards from the nearest crosswalk and appears to have been intoxicated.
The driver has not been charged at this time.
