CAPE FEAR, N.C. -

Jordan Lake played host Friday to the 9th annual Warriors on the Water event, a military appreciation bass fishing tournament.

A total of 158 boats from across the country traveled to the lake to take service members from Fort Bragg, Pope Airfield and Camp Lejeune out to fish.

Organizers of the event said it is all an effort to say thank you to the members of the Armed Forces.

For some, like Omar Rosas from Fort Bragg, it was their first time on the lake.

“It's different for me, I don't ever come fishing. Especially in a boat," Rosas said.

The event was completely free for participants.
