Mayor's Field Day can help you kick start spring fitness goals

With the weather warming up, now is the time many folks commit to getting in shape, and there is a cool and free event this weekend that could help you kick start those goals.

The Mayor's Field Day, now in its third year, is set for Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at LP Field.

Mayor Karl Dean teams up with the Tennessee Titans for several activities like relay races and a football toss.

Kids ages five and older and adults of all ages can all participate.

Dean says consider taking a church group or friends from the office and expect to see something a little different before the field day starts.

"At 8:30 a.m. we'll kick off the Walk 100 campaign where we'll walk 1 mile and have 99 more to go. But we'll do a mile and walk through the tunnel where Titans enter the field," he said.

The event is free, and if you need a ride the Metro Transit Authority will offer free rides to the event. Just hop on a MTA bus and tell the driver you're going to the Mayor's Field Day.
