A child is being treated at Vanderbilt Medical Center after being hit by a truck Wednesday evening.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol says 4-year-old Alyza Jenkins was trying to cross Laurel Lane in Rutherford County when she was hit by a Dodge Ram pickup driven by Kacey Craft, 30, of Murfreesboro.

THP investigators say the child was crossing the street from a neighbor's house to go back to her residence when she stepped directly in front of the truck.

Medics airlifted Alyza to the hospital.

Craft was not found to be at fault in the collision, but she was cited for a seatbelt violation, according to the THP.
