NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Metro police have charged a second suspect in connection to a suspected dogfighting ring in north Nashville.

Brandy Harper, 35, is now charged with one count of felony animal fighting and three counts of misdemeanor animal cruelty.

Her husband, 34-year-old Michael Davis, was already charged with 27 felony counts of animal fighting and three counts of misdemeanor animal cruelty after 28 dogs were seized from the couple's home on Pewitt Road.

The dogs now are being cared for by animal control officers.

Nine other dogs have been returned to the couple's neighbor on Pewitt Road who has not been charged in the case.

Police say Harper was released on $20,000 bond, while Davis remains jailed in lieu of $400,000 bond.

A spokesman for the health department said officials have received several calls from people who are concerned their lost dog was part of the group confiscated in the raid. Concerned pet owners are asked to contact Metro Animal Care and Control by emailing macc.news@nashville.gov.
