One person was killed and three people were injured in a three-vehicle crash that happened on eastbound State Route 840 on Monday afternoon.
Officials say 35-year-old Richard Sussen rear-ended the car 26-year-old Amber Atashzay was driving, causing her to hit another vehicle.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol report, Atashzay's car rotated and stopped in the right lane of the roadway and Sussen's car overturned and came to a stop on the right side of the roadway across the travel lane. The third car went into a ditch.
A passenger in Atashzay's car, 63-year-old Debbie Atashzay of Shelbyville, was killed in the crash, and all three drivers were injured.
THP says Sussen and Amber Atashzay were both tested for drug and alcohol use.
According to the THP report, criminal charges in the crash are pending.
