Duke Energy critics to protest at NC Utilities Commission hearing

RALEIGH, N.C. -

Customers and critics of Duke Energy will gather in Raleigh Monday evening to speak out against the company in front of the North Carolina Utilities Commission.

Several organizations, including NC WARN, Triangle Duke Energy Action Group, North Carolina Housing Coalition and others, will voice their opposition to Duke Energy’s proposed 15-year plan that relies on fossil fuels like coal and natural gas. They also plan to voice their opposition to recurring rate hikes.

A press conference is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Dobbs Building on N. Salisbury St. with a public hearing to follow at 7 p.m.
