Man shot by backseat passenger in Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -

A man was shot by a passenger in his vehicle Friday while in the parking lot of Royal Cigars and Tobacco in Fayetteville.

Police said Miguel Yusuf, 24, was shot by someone sitting the backseat of his vehicle while it was parked at Royal Cigars and Tobacco at 508 McCarthur Road around 5:30 p.m. The suspect got out of Yusuf's vehicle and left the scene in another vehicle parked at a nearby business, police said.

Yusuf was sent to to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Fayetteville police said the incident was not a random crime and is under investigation.
