Mother arrested after child reportedly flagged down police

Posted: Updated:

A Nashville mother was arrested after her child reportedly flagged down police officers because his mother wouldn't wake up and he was scared.

A police officer just happened to drive by the child's home on Lischey Avenue on Thursday when the 7-year-old told him he needed to go to school but his mother would not wake up.

Police say his mother was found passed out inside the home. Officers say she could barely stand when they were able to wake her up.

The mother allegedly told police she took a prescription pill cocktail of oxycodone, oxymorphone and neurontin.

Police say they searched the house and found a bag of crack cocaine.

The child's mother was booked into the Metro jail and is facing a charge of child neglect.
