Woman shot while trying to avoid trouble inside a Cleveland bar

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -
Third District Police Officers are investigating a shooting that sent a woman to St. Vincent Charity Hospital after being shot near E. 79th and Central Ave.

The shooting happened around 2 a.m. on Friday, April 25.

The victim was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle.

Officers interviewed the victim, 25-year-old Leenae Phillips of Cleveland, at St. Vincent Charity Hospital.

Phillips stated she was at a bar in the area when several males started arguing.

That's when Phillips says she left the bar and got into her car to leave when she heard a gunshot and was struck once in the neck /shoulder area.

Phillips was transferred to MetroHealth Medical Center where she was treated and released.  

Detectives plan to interview several individuals who were in the area at the time of the shooting.

At this time there is no suspect information or description available.
