TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Tucson police are in the 100 block of 22nd Street for a fatal officer-involved shooting, Sgt. Chris Widmer confirmed.

Police said a bank robbery was in progress just after 1:30 p.m. before the shooting. Widmer said the male suspect was armed with a handgun when he confronted officers. It was unknown whether gunshots were exchanged, but the suspect was shot.

Officers administered first aid but the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene and no officers were injured.

TPD said 22nd Street, from 6th Avenue to 4th Avenue, is closed and motorists should seek an alternate route.

Police don't believe anyone else was involved in bank robbery but the investigation is ongoing.
