PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Former NFL quarterback Donovan McNabb spent Wednesday in an Arizona jail for driving while intoxicated.

McNabb was cited by the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community on Dec. 15, 2013 for DUI, according to Maricopa County Justice Courts spokeswoman Sheryl Rabin.

Rabin said McNabb pleaded guilty on March 27 and was sentenced to one day in the Lower Buckeye Jail, which he served on April 16. He was released from the Lower Buckeye facility at 1:25 a.m. Thursday, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.

According to the Maricopa County court documents, McNabb was also ordered to pay a $1,500 fine and enter a treatment program from April 10 through July 8 at the Scottsdale Treatment Institute, which is an outpatient service. It is unclear at this time whether McNabb has begun the treatment program.

McNabb played 13 years in the NFL after being drafted with the second overall pick in 1999.

He led the Philadelphia Eagles to four straight NFC championship games from 2001 to 2004 and one Super Bowl berth before retiring after the 2011 season.

CBS 5 News reached out to Fox Sports and their spokesman Daniel Bell sent this statement:

"We're aware that Donovan McNabb was charged with DUI four months ago in Arizona. We have discussed this situation with Donovan at length, and we're convinced that he understands the gravity of his offense and is sufficiently contrite. The legal process has been concluded and we plan no further disciplinary action at this time."
