Police: More than 50 marijuana plants found in Cookeville apartment

COOKEVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A Cookeville man is in jail after police say they found more than 50 marijuana plants growing in his apartment.

Police were called to the apartment complex on the northeast side of Cookeville after receiving an anonymous complaint about possible drug activity.

After searching the home, police seized the marijuana plants and the equipment and supplies used in the operation.

Lee Edward Smith, 32, was arrested and charged with possession of Schedule VI drugs with the intent to distribute.

Smith's bond was set at $25,000.

Additional charges could be coming as the investigation continues.
