NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A truck crashed into the Waffle House on Stewarts Ferry Pike Thursday morning.

The truck jumped the curb and plowed into the restaurant around 3 a.m., injuring a man who was sitting at the counter.

Officials say the man has bruises and cuts but is expected to be OK.

"I was actually watching the whole thing thinking that he was turning in to park to get something to eat, so I looked a little bit closer and he just hit the store," said Waffle House employee Austin Carter.

Witnesses say the driver tried to put the truck in reverse but couldn't get the truck out and waited for police to arrive.

Police say the driver will be charged with DUI.

A passenger in the truck got up and ran away after the crash, but police say they aren't looking for him.
