TPS High Schools sending home Blizzard Bags

Posted: Updated:

Toledo Public School students are bringing a big workload home with them this week.

One School Board member says if there was ever a time for parents to get involved, this is it.

We're talking about Blizzards Bags, and the work is so extensive that Waite High School and all the other TPS high schools will have a certified teacher on hand to answer questions on April 16 and 17.

Assignments in the Blizzard Bags will be given in every subject, taking the place of three days missed because of Winter weather.

The Blizzard Bags are being sent home Monday and Tuesday of this week, and students will have two weeks to complete them.  The assignments are due when students return from Spring Break.

Board Member Lisa Sobecki is urging all parents to help their students, pull the assignments out and come up with a planso the kids can make sure all the work is completed.

"If they don't turn it in, it's counted as a zero in class," Sobecki said.  "That's in the grade book, that's a zero, unexcused absence.  For a high schooler, these are things that places look at."

On top of teachers on hand April 16 and 17, the YMCA, Boys and Girls Clubs and Library Branches will also be offering help.
