DYERSBURG, TN -

(WMC-TV) – A 3.1 magnitude earthquake was reported in Northwest Tennessee early Monday morning.

According to the United States Geological Survey's (USGS) Earthquake Hazards Program, the quake happened at 1:24 a.m. The epicenter was five miles southeast of Ridgely, Tennessee and 12 miles north of Dyersburg.

Monday morning's earthquake happened in the New Madrid Seismic Zone, which according to USGS is the most active earthquake zone in North America east of the Rockies.
