Residents displaced after Hermitage house fire

Posted: Updated:
NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Some folks in Hermitage are without a home, after theirs was destroyed by a house fire Sunday afternoon.

The house was fully engulfed in flames when fire crews arrived to the home on Greystone Court. The blaze was beginning to spread, melting the siding on a neighboring house.

Firefighters were able to intervene and contain the fire, but the house was a complete loss.

"The company got in here and made a good initial tackle on the house, and we kept the fire on one end of the house," said Paul King, Nashville District Fire Chief. "They will not be able to stay in the house. We have called the Red Cross and they're going to come out and assist the residents."

Luckily, no one was injured in the fire. Officials said the resident had a fire going in the fireplace earlier in the day, which could have spread.

The fire is under investigation.
