Posted: Updated:

Thousands of basketball fans are celebrating the arrival of the Women's Final Four in Nashville.

Fans kicked off the event with a pep rally at the Ryman Auditorium on Friday night.

Several festivities are happening in downtown Nashville on Saturday in connection with the championship.

Syracuse University Assistant Coach Kelly Gibson says the entire weekend is "a celebration of sport. You have high school coaches here, college coaches, WMBA coaches. There's so much that goes on with this venue and event here."

The 4KAY Run will honor the late NC State head women's basketball coach Kay Yow and benefit cancer research.

Cane Ridge and McGavock High Schools are holding basketball clinics.

The Music City Center is hosting a free Tourney Town fan festival all weekend featuring live music, autograph sessions, giveaways, and a battle of the bands.

The Broadway Bounce will feature thousands of kids dribbling basketballs through the streets of Nashville.

University of Connecticut, Stanford, Notre Dame and Maryland are competing for the National Championship at Bridgestone Arena. The first two games are Sunday night. The winners play for the NCAA title Tuesday night.

The NCAA championship is expected to bring in 30,000 visitors and more than $20 million in revenue for Music City.
