Christopher Smithburg, 16, was found safe and in good condition Tuesday evening, nearly six days after he was reported missing from his Williamson County home.

Search crews focused their efforts in a wooded area in Rutherford County after a homeowner there spotted Christopher off Cooks Lane.

"I just happened to be riding my tractor and said I'm gonna go look for him," Jesse Williams said.

Williams said he just felt like somebody was around.

"And I turned and looked, and he was sitting there," Williams said. "I said, 'Are you Christopher?' And he said, 'Yes.' And I said, 'They're looking for you.'"

Williams said the teen had a machete and bow-and-arrow with him along with a handmade shelter with sticks.

Christopher had disappeared from his home on Rocky Fork Road last Thursday morning, where his parents said he had been doing chores around the house.

Officials haven't said why they think Christopher ran away from home.

The teen was set to undergo a medical evaluation Tuesday evening and would then face a juvenile court judge for a runaway citation, authorities said.

Hundreds of volunteers joined the search for the teenager on Tuesday after several law enforcement jurisdictions spent several days focusing in the area near Christopher's home.
