NOLENSVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Volunteers have joined the search for a 16-year-old who disappeared nearly six days ago in Nolensville.

Christopher Smithburg disappeared from his home on Rocky Fork Road last Thursday at noon. He was last seen by his parents doing chores around the house.

The Williamson County Sheriff's Office says they will take as many as 300 volunteers to help with the search on Tuesday, which is expected to last until 5 p.m.

Each team of civilians will be led by a law enforcement officer trained in missing persons searches.

The teams will place markers as they go along the search route to pinpoint where they've already searched. They'll also be trained on what to do if they find any clues about Christopher's whereabouts.

Many of the volunteers have never met Christopher but wanted to help his parents find their son.

"I'm also a mom, and if this was my son, I would hope that all these people would pull together for my family also. I just want him to come home," said volunteer Tracy Moore.

Last week, officials announced that they were investigating whether Chistopher may have tried going to Louisiana, which is where he went to elementary and middle school.

A prayer vigil will be held for Christopher at Nolensville First United Methodist Church at 7316 Nolensville Rd. at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Those with any information on Christopher's whereabouts are urged to call the Williamson County Sheriff's Office at 615-790-5550.
