PALO ALTO, Calif. (WIS) The Gamecocks are ready to get back on the court Sunday.
A painful lesson was learned the last time South Carolina played North Carolina.
Star point guard Khadijah Sessions sprained her ankle following a celebration after a play in the game.
That impacted the outcome as South Carolina went on to lose to the Tar Heels.
Sessions said she is carrying that lesson learned into the Sweet 16.
"I'm definitely not celebrating," Sessions said. "Just clap and make sure to maintain focus for the whole 40 minutes."
Sessions is months removed from her injury and is fully dialed into getting that win and so are her teammates who are getting anxious for tip off.
"It took a little bit away from us," said Elem Ibiam. "Khadijah's our point guard; she's our leader on the team, so we definitely had a void there."
Despite the loss against UNC earlier in the season, the Gamecocks are prepared and anxious for Sunday's game.
"Kind of antsy to get back on the court," Ibiam said. "We had a couple of days off which was good but we are just kind of ready to get back on the court, play another game. It's exciting, so we are ready to see."
Tip off is scheduled for 7 p.m. (ET) on ESPN2.
