NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Attorneys for Vanderbilt rape suspect Brandon Vandenburg are asking again to have the prosecutor thrown off the case, saying some key evidence may have been tampered with.

In a new set of filings Monday, Vandenburg's attorneys are asking to have the office of the district attorney general disqualified from prosecuting the case altogether.

Attorney John Herbison argued in the filings an impartial pro-tem prosecutor should be appointed in the DA's place.

Deputy District Attorney Tom Thurman is handling the case against four former Vanderbilt football players, including Vandenburg, charged with sexually assaulting a classmate.

In the filings, Vandenburg's attorney makes a number of allegations against Thurman and suggests surveillance video from campus the night of the alleged assault may have been tampered with.

Vandenburg's next court hearing is set for Friday.
