Eddie George to judge NBC show 'American Dream Builders'

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Former Tennessee Titans running back Eddie George is a judge on a new NBC reality TV show. American Dream Builders is all about how people choose to design the inside of their homes.

The concept is simple: turn a house that needs a makeover on the inside into something spectacular. George and a panel of judges who know what works and what doesn't in the design world decide if you win or lose.

And home builder Tarrick Love was just the guy to do it. He's a contestant on the show and is now hoping the TV judges will like what he's created.

"Typically a renovation like this would take four to six months to complete, but we were given a week," Love said.

George is already a highly respected landscape designer, and although he intimidated defensive lineman for years in the NFL, he promises he won't bring that style to television.

"I'm not trying to be Simon Cowell and tear people down. That's not what I do. But I do want to give people the honest truth," George said.

You won't find any obvious clunkers on the show. George has now walked through homes from coast to coast, all put together by America's top designers. And he's already giving thumbs up to Love's work.

"Tarrick is an amazing builder. I've seen his work on the show, but this is totally him and speaks of his style and taste," George said.

The show isn't a sort of 'Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous.' The hope is what you see might just wind up working for you, too.

"Nowadays with the market bouncing back, people want to make home improvements. This is a show you want to watch so you can see something and say, 'Yeah I want to do that,'" George said.

American Dream Builders premieres Sunday at 7 p.m. on Channel 4.
