A tale of two Latin restaurants with low scores, but Subway is solid

Dining out this weekend?

The inspectors at the Hamilton County Health Department had a great week, reporting no failing grades among the 19 restaurants inspected.

Remember we do give the low score, and that's a 78. A failing grade is anything lower than a 70.

According to Chief Inspector Jack Falcon, we have a tie for the lowest score and both restaurants can be found on Main Street in Chattanooga.

Inspectors at Taqueria Antigua Guatemala found chicken and rice out of temperature, no hot water at hand sinks, floors and walls need repair and a lot of litter in the parking lot. Once again they score a 78.

Also scoring that grade is the Conga Latin Restaurant where inspectors found chicken out of temperature, employees were not washing the utensils correctly, the floors and walls need repair and the cutting boards need replacing.

The high score of the week is the Subway on McSallie Avenue. They score a whopping 98.

Remember any complaints about a restaurant, hotel or motel, day care or a place you work out, call the Hamilton County Health Department  Hotline at (423) 209-8110 or feel free to email me and I'll pass your comments along.

Enjoy your meal!
