NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

The Hermitage held an all-day celebration on Saturday to honor its most famous resident. The big celebration was all to mark the 247th birthday of President Andrew Jackson.

The day was marked by a special ceremony at his tomb, where an Army color guard played taps and presented a wreath to honor the president.

Senator Bob Corker spoke at the ceremony. He says Tennesseans can honor Jackson by trying to model his behavior.

Officials with the Hermitage say the day is usually one of their biggest events of the year. Anywhere from 1,000 to 1,500 people usually attend.
