Metro Police identify overnight drowning victim

Posted: Updated:

Metro Police say a man drowned overnight at Elm Hill Marina.

Mark Sherrill, 56, was last seen alive Friday night.

A friend found his body this morning.

Police say the Smyrna resident had a houseboat on the marina. He reportedly left his boat late last night to go hear live music.

According to police, Sherrill apparently fell down a steep embankment, approximately 20 feet into the water and died.

Investigators do not believe foul play was involved.

The Medical Examiner will determine the exact cause of death.
