Community reacts with shock, sadness at charges in Holly Bobo's death

Posted: Updated:

In the months and years since Holly Bobo disappeared, volunteers searched the fields and woods of West Tennessee for any trace of her while countless others sent prayers and hope she would be found.

Then, on Wednesday, came the news many had feared as the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation announced a suspect had been charged in Bobo's death.

There was an audible gasp and outburst of emotion in the Decatur County courthouse as TBI Director Mark Gwyn said Zachary Adams has been indicted on charges of first-degree murder and especially aggravated kidnapping following Bobo's disappearance in April of 2011.

It has been an emotional three years for the community, where pink ribbons and bows symbolizing hope for Bobo's return still adorn many mailboxes and lamp posts, while signs announcing rewards in the case are posted in store fronts.

The Bobo family's pastor, who spent the day by the family's side, said they are thankful for the community's support and ask for prayers.
