Holly Bobo family pastor says community not giving up hope

DARDEN, TN (WSMV) -

After years of searching for Holly Bobo, her family and members of the community have never given up hope she will one day be returned home alive.

The Rev. Don Franks, pastor at Corinth Baptist Church, has been in contact with Bobo's family all day Friday as the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation conducted searches in connection to the case nearly three years after Bobo's disappearance.

Franks said the family is stressed at the developments but hopeful at the same time.

"We still believe deep down in our hearts that she's alive. Developments in nearby states, these ladies that have been missing 10 years or whatever brought renewed hope to the family and this community," Franks said. "I think I've said it before, we're country people, country folks, and we're just not going to give up on finding Holly."

Franks has been a friend of the Bobo family for three generations and said Holly Bobo was involved in the church's medical ministry. She was studying nursing at the time she went missing and had wanted to go abroad to help people in third-world countries with the church's medical missionaries.

The pastor said Bobo was also involved with the musical ministry, saying she was actually signed up to sing at church on the Sunday of the week she disappeared.

For weeks, the church has planned a prayer vigil for this weekend.

Corinth Baptist Church, at 1350 Corinth Road in Darden, will be open Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Organizers are encouraging church groups from across the state to come and pray for Bobo's safe return and for the investigators working the case.

"I know the family needs our prayers, and we pray she'll be found and found alive," said Vicki Forrester, who lives across from the Adams Lane search scene.
