Metro schools delays plan to link teacher pay to evaluations

Posted: Updated:
NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Metro Nashville Public Schools has delayed a plan that would have linked a teacher's pay to yearly evaluations.

In an email sent to teachers Thursday, Schools Director Dr. Jesse Register said pay will not be tied to "TEAM" evaluations for now.

Teachers had feared the new policy would essentially freeze their pay, costing them thousands of dollars over the course of their careers.

Metro schools says this plan will help retain and reward the best teachers.
