COLUMBIA, TN (WSMV) -

One person was killed in a mobile home fire in Columbia early Sunday morning.

The Columbia Fire Department responded to the blaze at 103 East 14th Street around 3 a.m.

Crews arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the remnants of the trailer located approximately 100 feet from the road.

Columbia Police reportedly attempted to remove the victim, 42-year-old Todd Moser, from the structure but were overcome by heavy fire conditions.

Moser was taken to Maury Regional medical center by Maury Regional EMS.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze.

According to the property owner, the building was not being occupied as a residence at the time.

Officials say there were no utilities or smoke detectors inside the structure.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.
