TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Toledo Police have reopened the intersection of Dorr Street and Byrne Road after a serious-injury accident Friday afternoon.

Witnesses told police that Brian Rosenburg, 22, was driving a Saab SUV northbound on Byrne at a very high rate of speed around 1 p.m. Police say his vehicle then struck the rear of a Dodge Neon, driven by 47-year-old Judith Crawford, crushing it between his vehicle and a Lexus SUV, driven by Harriet Grier, 64. Crawford and Grier had both been stopped at a red light at Byrne and Dorr.

Grier's vehicle was then propelled into the intersection, where it hit a Ford Fiesta being driven by 20-year-old Stephen Feczer, who was traveling westbound on Dorr.

Rosenburg's vehicle then struck a Ford pickup truck driven by 53-year-old Paul Malak. The Ford had also been stopped at the red light in an adjacent lane.

Rosenburg, an accounting student at the University of Toledo, was transported to the hospital by ambulance. Crawford was transported to a Toledo hospital by Life Squad after the Jaws of Life were used to gain access to her car.

Grier was also taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries.

Hospital officials say Rosenburg is in critical condition. No word yet on the condition of the other drivers.

The intersection was shut down for hours while crews cleaned up the scene and police investigated. Police say alcohol use by Rosenburg may be a factor in the crash.
