CLARKSVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A soldier from Clarksville who was missing in action for nearly 50 years is finally about to be laid to rest.

A funeral for Staff Sgt. Lawrence Woods will be held at Arlington National Cemetery on March 21.

Woods died in the Vietnam War in 1964 when he his plane was shot down.

Seven other crew members were also on that plane.

The body of one and the remains of the other six were recovered, but Woods' remains weren't found for decades.

He had been listed as "missing, presumed dead" when his family got the call last year.

A group from Fort Knox had found Woods' remains in a previously undiscovered part of the plane.

All three of Woods' children will be at the ceremony in Arlington next month, along with other family members.
