A woman who allegedly pointed a gun at Metro police officers and was rushed to a Nashville hospital after the officers opened fire at her Tuesday afternoon in Antioch has died.

Metro police said they received a call of a domestic disturbance about 4:45 p.m. in the 1500 block of Bridgecrest Drive.

When they arrived to the home, officers knocked on the door and were told by the woman - who was holding a gun, threatening suicide - to go away. The officers then forced the door open and saw her point the gun at police, according to a police department spokesman.

Two officers opened fire, hitting the 52-year-old woman in the upper torso area.

The woman, identified by police as Pamela Hutcherson, was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where she died Wednesday.

The officers - Sergio Espinosa and Joseph Progar - have been placed on administrative assignment pending a review of the incident and are cooperating in the investigation, the department said.
