GOODLETTSVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A horse has been rescued after falling into a pool in Goodlettsville.

The horse got out of its fence sometime overnight on the 1900 block of Baker Road and got into a neighbor's yard.

Goodlettsville Fire Department Deputy Chief Mark Becknal says the horse stepped onto the pool cover and fell in.

After it fell in, the horse stuck its head through the tear in the cover.

They are not sure how long the horse was in the pool.

Firefighters lured the horse from the pool using carrots, getting the horse to walk to the shallow end so they could lead it out.

The horse is now back at home.

A veterinarian will be coming to check out the horse later in the day.
