1 stick unsalted butter

generous 1/2 cup sugar

1 egg

2 tablespoons milk

1 tablespoon vanilla

2 cups all purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 cup milk

2 cups unhulled sesame seeds

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

In a mixer with a paddle attachment cream the butter and sugar until smooth. Add the egg and incorporate. Add 2 tablespoons milk and vanilla, mix to combine. Sift together flour and baking powder and add to the wet ingredients. Mix until just combined, don't overmix.

Place a cup of milk in a shallow bowl. Sprinkle the sesame seeds on a long piece of waxed paper or parchment. Pinch off a small dollop of dough and shape into a small log. Dip in the milk and set on the seeds, move the sides of the wax paper to toss dough in the seeds to coat. Place on a cookie sheet. Continue with all the dough. You can dip 5-6 pieces of dough in the milk and place on the seeds at one time.

Bake for about 30 minutes until golden brown. With a spatula gently push cookies from baking sheet onto a flat paper bag to cool.
