Tullahoma police have arrested a 73-year-old Manchester man accused of robbing a bank at gunpoint Tuesday afternoon on West Lincoln Street.

The robbery was reported about 12:30 p.m. at the Citizens Tri-County Bank.

Police said Wayne Ferrell approached a teller, displayed a handgun and demanded money.

He then fled the bank southbound on Collins Street.

Jack T. Farrar Elementary on Westside Drive was placed on lockdown as a precaution shortly after the robbery was reported.

Ferrell was arrested following an investigation by local police and the FBI. He now faces a charge of aggravated robbery and was booked in the Coffee County Jail on $250,000 bond.

Officials said his criminal history includes convictions for forgery, fraud, theft and robbery.

A court date is set for Feb. 13.
