TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The sheriff's department is searching for at least one person suspected of posing as a magazine salesman to rob houses.

Officials said a person pretending to sell magazines told homeowners in two separate occasions he was cold and needed to use the restroom or wanted a glass of water. Both times, the homeowners let the suspect in the home and noticed their wallets and checkbook were missing after the suspect left, according to a news release.

Deputy Courtney Rodriguez with the Pima County Sheriff's Department said there is no description of the suspect, but he reportedly targets northwest side homes, near Cortaro and Sandy Desert Trail, then the Orange Grove and Skyline area.

The sheriff's department asks the public to refrain from inviting strangers into your home and immediately report suspicious activity in your neighborhood to 911.
